Where am I staying?
You’ll be staying in the majestic, four-star Ballymascanlon House, a Victorian house with 130 acres of beautiful parkland. Just two miles from Dundalk town, it’s set against a backdrop of the Mourne mountains and Carlingford Lough.
What’s nearby?
One of the many treasures to be found on the grounds of Ballymascanlon Hotel is the 4,000-year-old Proleek Stone, which never fails to amaze visitors. Scholars and scientists alike are still puzzled as to how the ancient inhabitants manage to raise a 46-tonne capstone on seemingly fragile supports.
The north east is home to a rich history of monuments and ancient artifacts including Newgrange and Clogherhead, both an approximate 30-minute drive from the hotel.
Closer to home you’ll find Carlingford Lough which has a range of water activities run by Carlingford Adventure Centre. For a dose of energy, strap on the hiking boots and attempt one of many trails around Carlingford including the Táin Way.
