Abbey Street is at the center of all things in Dublin. It’s in the middle of all the finest shopping areas in Dublin, right on the Luas line, under the shadow of the spire and a hop skip and a jump from the River Liffey. Now, it’s also home to one of the newest and tastiest eateries in Dublin city.
Leave the hustle and bustle of Dublin city behind as you indulge for just €19 for two starters, two main courses and two drinks at Bar 52 in the Abbey Hotel, Dublin 1. Not bad for a meal for two that would usually set you back €51.80.
Half the time, I just stroll around town and pop into the first place I see; it’s about convenience. It always results in average food that I am rarely impressed with. Well today, we’ve not only got your one of the most convenient locations but also some of the tastiest food in Dublin city centre.
Choose from the selection of tasty treats on their menu. If it was me, I’d be choosing chilli salted calamari for my starter and a 6oz steak cooked to my liking and served with hand-cut chips and a choice of garlic butter, pepper or creamy mushroom sauce – I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.
You’ll also get two drinks with your meal. Choose from a glass of house red or white wine, pint or soft drink.
Head on down to the newly refurbished and relaunched Bar 52 in The Abbey Hotel on Middle Abbey Street – you won’t regret it.

We visited this restaurant recently using an online voucher deal. The deal was 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks for €19. Excellant value i thought, but turned out too good to be true. The restaurant/bar was shabby and had an old bookcase on one side. This turned out to be the toilet door disguised! So they had the toilet right beside tables where people ate!!! Then the other door was where the food came out by lift. There was one girl on the front desk/bar. She was mannerly but they were clearly understaffed. I ordered a pint and my friend a 7Up which was flat and tasted funny. We had chicken wings for starters which were fine, friend had roast beef but ‘potatoes’ were smash so ruined her dinner. Ever smell Smash? Rotten. My main was the Fillet Chicken Burger which was nice but bun was soggy. The food was clearly left sitting there as was warm not hot. We mentioned all the above to the girl but it was evident she wasn’t going to do anything by the blank look on her face. Needless to say wont be returning. Dive.
